About NIDO Indiana

Nigerians In Diaspora Organization (NIDO) is a nonpartisan public policy organization dedicated to fostering and promoting the human and material development of Nigerians in the United States and beyond. To achieve this goal, the organization pursues three separate but related strategies: problem-oriented research; empowering and fostering social, economic and historical/cultural awareness; and advocacy of self reliant and effective development policies.  

Purpose of Nigerians In Diaspora Organization (NIDO)

NIDO Promotes Unity

promote unity, cooperation, understanding and a viable sense of fellowship as well as sustaining cultural awareness and enrichment among its members in the United States and beyond.

Nido Advocates Policies

advocate policies aimed at promoting business and socio-economic self reliance thereby increasing the quality of life of Nigerians in Diaspora. encourage and promote institutions that respect human dignity and the ideals of a civil society

Nido Rescues and Reconstruct

rescue and reconstruct the Nigerian value system to help obliterate any form of stereotype threatening our developmental process. identify the needs of members and the resources available to fulfill those needs.

NIDO Contributes Enhancement

contribute to the enhancement of the members’ social welfare through a better understanding of the socio-legal dispositions in the United States as well as to encourage initiatives within the Nigerian community by providing information and advice to people interested in making Indiana, a place of abode.

Structure

We, at NIDO, advocate self reliance, transparency, integrity, respect, trust and loyalty among members, therefore we seek membership that cuts across boundaries of age, geography, skills and ethnicity and to those who demonstrate an expressed commitment and capability to the empowerment of Nigeria’s developmental value pledging to adhere to the goals, principles and policies of the organization. The expertise and resources that individuals bring to the table is vital to the growth of the organization.

ACTIVITIES/SERVICES PROVIDED

provide information, guidance and referral services to immigrants and the new settlers in Indiana

build and support Nigerian culture through organizing various events, conferences and international meetings

networking and exchanging with other African immigrant communities

document the relevance of African immigration to the world’s social, political and economic system as well its historical effect on Nigerian culture.

engage in fundraising activities for implementing the objectives of the organization.
